Procurement Accountant

Hours: Monday to Friday 08.45am to 17.00pm (Flexibility is required to meet with the demands of the business).




The Role:


Procurement Accountant responsible for the delivery of Finance support and insight to the Trading & Procurement functions.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Support Cheese Procurement Team with all reporting requirements for purchasing decisions
  • Preparation of weekly stocks vs sales analysis with review of key movements/risks and monitoring of contractual volumes
  • Regular cheese buying variance review highlighting key issues and potential future impact
  • Understand and report cheese inventory trends & forward forecast
  • Develop further insight into cheese usage visibility to review with Procurement & Grading Teams
  • Support of OFL2 Trading function including co-ordination of bulk cheese sales, trading forward book and managing primary commercial supply model for pricing and volumes
  • Manage budgeting & forecasting models for cheese standard costs, buying variance, inventory, supply plan, packaging, materials & distribution costs
  • Provision of cheese costs for customer product costings including full understanding of cheese buying/pricing models and ensuring commercial understanding and transparency
  • Oversee and challenge Status 3 obsolete stock, addressing key drivers to minimise wastage & loss
  • Support Procurement Manager with insight into packaging price variance, obsolete stock and contract packing commercial review
  • KPI preparation and review of all distribution costs within Supply Chain
  • Co-ordinate with Ornua Dublin to manage volumes & pricing for Kerrygold P&L with input for commercial review
  • Prepare and review Procurement overheads vs budget, identifying variances and challenging spend where necessary
  • Maintain master data for bulk cheese structures and support new product set-up
  • Support Finance Manager with projects or other requirements as needed
  • Collaborate with the wider Finance team as required and assist in development of financial awareness of non-finance colleagues


Experience / Qualifications:


  • Qualified accountant (CIMA/ACCA)
  • Prior experience in a Finance Business Partnering or Procurement/COGS focussed finance role
  • Advanced Excel Skills
  • Previous experience of an ERP system (Movex preferable)



  • Relevant FMCG experience
  • Knowledge of dairy/food commodity markets
  • Experience in business intelligence systems
